Executives at a global sport’s governing body were suspected of interfering in elections to ensure favourable results were obtained. A covert investigation into the sport was conducted to understand the landscape and politics at play between key individuals. Covert human intelligence sources were cultivated, and evidence obtained of the payment of disguised bribes in the region of $1 million. The results of the investigation were shared with law enforcement, with whom a close relationship had been developed, and led to the indictment of 3 sports executives for corruption.

Suspicions were raised of a doping ring operating within a sport by an international federation. Several athletes had whereabouts filings issues and missed anti-doping tests. Because the federation had suspicions this was possibly part of a doping conspiracy, an investigation was conducted into several missed tests. Intelligence began to emerge which strongly suggested team doctors; support personnel; and athletes were involved in organised blood doping. Liaison with law enforcement led to several arrests as doping was an offence in the respective jurisdictions. The investigation continued in tandem with law enforcement and resulted in the doping ring being unearthed and disbanded.

An investigation into competition manipulation of Olympic Games qualifying events before the Tokyo 2021 Games. Allegedly sham competitions were organised with a select invite only athlete list. The aim was to ensure a favourable competition for specific athletes who needed to attain Olympic qualifying results. An investigative team interviewed all the athletes involved together with event organisers and national federation representatives to ascertain if competition regulations had been manipulated, which directly impacted the qualified athletes the international federation had approved.

Overt and covert investigations were conducted into animal fatalities at an event affiliated to an international federation. The circumstances surrounding the fatality were suspicious and crucial evidence went missing. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event were conducted including the interviewing of a large volume of witnesses, an examination of the evidential chain of custody and the recruitment of undercover sources. The outcome enabled the international federation to take appropriate disciplinary action for evidence tampering and failure to adhere to animal welfare regulations.

Several disciplinary and regulatory investigations have followed information received from whistle-blowers. These matters having been first triaged by integrity and investigations experts to assess jurisdiction over matters, are then recommended for further investigation and/or intelligence gathering, whilst at all times ensuring whistleblower protection. A large percentage of matters reported in this manner result in disciplinary action being taken against the perpetrators. Matters have included doping violations, competition manipulation, inappropriate conduct and fraud.
